For those who have not done it before, you will see that it is very easy to make a fabric background look
"antique" in no time at all!
- Add warm water to a bowl large enough for your fabric backing to lie reasonably flat. (You don't want it "scrunched" up
in a too-small cup of it may dye unevenly.
- Steep tea or coffee in the water until medium-dark. Add a teaspoon of vinegar.
- Have a cup of tea or coffee yourself while you're doing this -- sans vinegar! :)
- Stir for a few minutes, squeeze out the tea. Take a paper towel and squeeze until fabric is damp-dry. This will keep
the fabric just the right color.
- Place right side down on an old towel, and put a piece of muslin on top of the fabric. Press dry with a medium hot iron.
That's it! You're done! Happy stitching!
