Betty introduces students to the art of crazy quilting by starting them off on this small and pretty project. Participants can choose to purchase a pre-packaged kit, purchase their own choice of fabrics and notions, or bring scraps of their favorite fabrics from home.
Betty spends the first morning inspiring students with ideas from her own personal "stash" - her collection of antique laces, doilies and buttons, cigarette silks, fabrics, souffles, charms and more!
During this time, she also share the history of crazy quilting and where to find similar "treasures". A century-old quilt will be on display.
Once the students begins to sew the base work, Betty works closely with each student, and shares troubleshooting tips as they occur.
By the second day, the students learn how to decorate the seams of their quilted heart with a variety of crazy quilt stitches. A collage of buttons, charms and silk ribbon embroidery is placed along one edge of the heart and viola! A masterful work of beauty is born!
And who knows what other little secrets Betty may share!
