A unique approach to crazy quilting. This two-day session will teach the participants the fine art of "painting" a scene with fabric and embellishments. The completed project will be a mounted fabric landscape about 12" in diameter, depicting any scene the students choose, from seaside to prairie, from mountains to desert.
The first day is divided into two sessions: Students begin by looking for ideas and inspirations around them, and designing their landscape. Once the project is sketched and transferred to the base fabric, students start sewing and embellishing the design.
Participants discover new ways to "play" with fabric: scrunching, burning, folding and dyeing are just a few. Embroidery stitches may be incorporated as well - nearly anything goes. The creative possibilities are endless.
By day two, the class will be in a fervor of activity, finishing their masterpiece with beading, charms, netting, metallic threads, textured yarns, ribbon floss and other personal touches. A short slide presentation will inspire students with more ideas for future projects.
Proficiency: All levels
The 1 Day class will be a condensed and smaller version of the 2 Day class.
